Sustainability

A true renewable resource, Appalachian Hardwoods will naturally replenish themselves, whether man or nature severs them from the earth.  Well managed timberland will help nature reduce its cycle times and encourage diversity.  At J C Lumber Company, we work our hardest to ensure future generations will be able to enjoy the beauty of hardwood, both in the forest and after manufacturing.

West Virginia is the third most forested state in the nation, and has more than 50% more forest than it did 100 years ago.  Properly managed cutting of timber for manufacture only temporarily reduces the acreage available for wildlife and recreation, while former timberland developed for residential and commercial use permanently removes that acreage from the forest.
